Across Africa, thousands of children give their days to learning the Qur’an, often with nothing more than a wooden tablet and a great deal of determination. Printed copies are rare, and for many families they are simply out of reach.
Where a madrasah does have a few copies, they are usually shared between many students, passed from hand to hand until the pages wear thin. A child who wants to read ahead, revise at home or simply hold the Book in front of them has to wait for a turn.
You can change that. Your gift places a Qur’an in a child’s hands, and every verse they recite from it becomes a continuing reward for you.

A löh is a rectangular or oval board, usually made of wood. Students write verses or surahs from the Quran on this board using a special ink. This ink is typically made from a mixture of water and charcoal, and the writing is washed off once the memorization process is complete. This allows the board to be reused time and time again.
Löh boards are an important tool that guides students in their memorization. Students write down the verses they are required to memorize each day, memorize them under the guidance of their teachers, and then erase these writings to make room for new ones.
The Prophet ﷺ is also reported to have said: “The most honoured people of my ummah are those who recite the Qur’an, memorise it, act upon it and stand in prayer at night.”
