A single tree can feed, shade and sustain a family for generations.
Across much of Africa, drought, conflict and displacement have taken the land that used to feed families. Orchards have been cut for fuel, farmland has turned to dust, and in many villages children grow up without shade, fruit or any green space nearby.
A single tree changes that. Its roots hold the soil together, its leaves cool the air, and its shade gives children somewhere to sit and learn. In time it gives fruit, and fruit gives a family something to eat and something to sell.
For you, it becomes something more lasting: a Sadaqah Jariyah, a charity whose reward continues for as long as the tree gives benefit. Every person, bird or animal that rests under it or eats from it adds to that reward.

Your donation covers the sapling, planting and the early care it needs to take root. Each tree is planted where it will serve people most:
The Prophet ﷺ said: “No Muslim plants a tree or sows a crop, and then a person, a bird or an animal eats from it, except that it is counted as charity for him.” (Sahih al-Bukhari; Sahih Muslim)
In dry regions a tree is never just a tree. Its roots keep the topsoil from washing or blowing away, and its canopy keeps the ground underneath cooler and holds moisture a little longer. Over the years a grove can bring back land that was written off.
The saplings we plant are chosen for the place. Fruit trees can feed a family directly and give them something to sell at market. Shade trees make schoolyards, madrasahs and orphanages bearable in the hottest months. The right choice depends on local soil, rainfall and what the community asks for, which is why our local teams decide on each site.
A tree also asks for patience. The first seasons are the hardest, so part of your gift pays for watering, fencing and checking on the sapling until it can look after itself.

How it works
A tree only helps if it survives its first seasons, so the early care matters as much as the planting.

When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: a continuing charity, knowledge that benefits, or a righteous child who prays for them.
